SOCIETY'S TROPHY AWARDED TO MCAST STUDENT

Trophy awarded to MCAST student for outstanding performance

This year marks the ninth consecutive annual exhibition of works by the MCAST Institute of Art and Design students, held at St James Cavalier. With over a hundred exhibits on display, this is only a fraction of the works produced at the Institute throughout the academic year.
For the past three years, in collaboration with the Malta Society of Arts, Manufacture and Commerce, the Institute of Art and Design has awarded a trophy for the most outstanding student. The fourth award 2009 has been given to Ritianne Zammit, who has successfully completed her Higher National Diploma in 3D Design.
Art and Design as a discipline provides students with an array of transferable skills, particularly creative and lateral thinking, problem solving, and development and evaluation of different solutions to a problem. Throughout her HND, Ritianne has demonstrated unfailing consistency in her endeavors towards creativity and innovation, through experimentation with an incredibly wide range of media, materials and techniques, trying out all possible options.
Her work always betrayed her passion for anything related to art and design and she always strived to exceed tutors’ expectations. Her outlook on any given project was constantly holistic, and she always analysed given briefs from all viewpoints. As a result, she managed to design products and interiors which are both highly artistic and expressive, as well as being commercially viable.
Ritianne joined the MCAST Institute of Art and Design five years ago, and followed the First Diploma Level 2 Programme. She then went on to achieve the Level 3 National Diploma in Design Crafts with Distinction, and naturally progressed to the Higher National Diploma in 3D Design, which is equivalent to the second year of a degree course. She is now looking forward for her one year Top-up degree, which will award her the B.A.(Hons) in Product Design and Interiors.
